Understanding Trauma & Abuse

Understanding Trauma and Abuse

Many wounded people are looking to the Christian community for support and understanding. Churches and Christian ministries are beginning to feel the pressure of the rise of abuse survivors and others coming forward and reporting experiences that for years have remained hidden and taboo subjects. In our more open and enlightened social environment, survivors are feeling that it is now safer to speak of such things.

However, Christian leaders and pastoral helpers often feel out of their depth, particularly in the area of severe or satanic ritual abuse and its resulting dissociative disorders. Many Christian ministries and churches are looking to the secular world for answers, often without success. We tend to think that there are, somewhere "out there", experts who know more about these things than us and are better able to help survivors of severe abuse. Although experts do exist, they are few and far between. Survivors primarily need a community of people who are full of faith in the life-restoring power of Christ, are able to love intelligently and with consistency, and help the hurting person connect with His healing power.

We offer a completely Bible-based, Christ-centred way of embracing and understanding those who hurt, leading them to freedom from the past and into their full potential as children of God. We do this through workshops and events for counsellors, church leaders, friends and family, and also for survivors and other hurting people.
